Contest Information

Mission: At the September 14, 2009 convocation, Chancellor Keith Motley described the Urban Mission of UMass Boston. As he stated,

“Urban is much, much more than population density, deteriorating conditions, and social pathology. Urban is where the power and culture of a community come together. Cities are where the goods of civilization are multiplied. Urban areas are the generators of hopes and dreams. They are the engines for stimulating intellectual capital, the magnets for thinkers and innovators, and the laboratories of new ideas...”

The psychology department celebrates this urban mission with an annual photography contest—featuring photos that capture the vision expressed in Chancellor Motley’s speech.
